What Is The Chemical Resistance Of The PP Pipe?

The PP pipes (polypropylene pipes) produced and manufactured by Qingdao Longchangjie have excellent chemical stability. This is one of the reasons why these pipes can be widely applied in various industrial fields. Here are some key chemical properties of the PP pipes:

Firstly, in terms of chemical stability, the main component of PP pipes is polypropylene, which has a good resistance to most chemical reagents. It can withstand many chemical reagents we come into contact with in daily life, but there are exceptions. For instance, concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid can erode it. That's why it is frequently seen in industries with corrosive environments such as chemical engineering, chemical fibers, chlor-alkali, and dyes.

Then there is the issue of chemical solvent resistance. Although PP pipes are stable against most chemical reagents, there are still some substances they cannot handle. For instance, low-molecular-weight aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated hydrocarbons may cause them to soften or swell. Therefore, when choosing PP pipes for specific chemical media, these factors must be taken into account.

Let's take a look at the antioxidant property. The antioxidant property of PP pipes at high temperatures is not as good as that of polyethylene (PE). But don't worry. We can improve its antioxidant performance by adding appropriate stabilizers.

In terms of resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, PP pipes perform very well. It is precisely for this reason that they are frequently used in the transportation of acid and alkali liquids as well as in municipal water supply and drainage systems.

In addition, PP pipes have excellent electrical insulation properties. Moreover, they hardly absorb water, so their insulation performance is not affected by humidity.
